Oluwatoyosi Ogunseye & Tolu Ogunlesi Win at the CNN/MultiChoice African Journalists

Two Nigerian journalists Oluwatoyosi Ogunseye ,
editor of The Punch on Sunday, and Tolu
Ogunlesi , a freelancer journalist for Ventures
Africa, Nigeria, were among the winners at the
2013 CNN/MultiChoice Africa Journalist of the
Year Awards ceremony, which took place in Cape
Town, South Africa yesterday.
Ogunseye won in the UNICEF-sponsored
Environment Category while Ogunlesi won in the
Coca-Cola Company, Economics and Biz Awards
category.

Oluwatoyosi Ogunseye
Ogunseye’s winning entry, The Rich Also Cry ,
exposed the harmful effects of steel production
on the residents of an upscale Lagos
neighbourhood.

Tolu Ogunlesi
Ogunlesi won his category with a report, Eko
Atlantic City: A Mammoth New Development On
The Coastline of Lagos.
The overall winner, South Africans, Msindisi
Fengu and Yandisa Monakali, emerged for their
piece on students’ hostel which looked like
prison cells in South Africa.
